How To Get Your Vehicle Germ Free

Due to COVID-19 most of us are probably paying more attention to getting the inside of our cars clean and sanitized than we normally would. Here are some ways to effectively clean and sanitize your vehicle.

Start With The Vacuum

Start off by vacuuming and cleaning the inside your vehicle. You want to focus on germs. If you believe the inside of your vehicle was directly exposed to a virus, it may be best to wear gloves during this initial cleaning.

Try not to use things such as bleach wipes or hand sanitizer while cleaning your vehicle. These chemicals can kill germs but have a good chance at harming your vehicles interior. Begin using the products made to clean car surfaces that you have. Although this step won't sanitize surfaces, it will make it much easier for the effort later to thoroughly clean.

Sanitizing Where You Touch

The vehicle's interior at this point looks better now than when we started, but there's still the chance that a virus is living in key areas. The simplest way to attack COVID-19, experts have said, is with soap and water, and since most dish soaps use only mild detergents, it is a good cleaner to use on your car's interior, and more than likely something you already you have available in your home.

This coronavirus does not care if it’s cold or hot water, just as long as it is used with soap. You can use a rag or washcloth; however, a microfiber towel might be more useful. Make sure to soak the rag, and wring out any excess water before wiping anything down. You don't want the water to pile up anywhere, or there can be moisture buildup below the surface later on.

Some touch points you want to focus on are things such as door handles, steering wheel, radio, the cupholders, the glove box, and the seatbelts, arm rest, and center console.

You can take things one step further by using a UV light to see the areas you missed. It’s a strange time as these are things we don’t usually think to do. But this could be more important than ever!
